Line reactors are to be chosen by taking into consideration for the following ;

Input Feed Voltage level Choose the line reactor designed for the same voltage of the compressor it is going to be used for.
If compressor feed is a single phase, a three phase line reactor must be selected. The single phase input feeds must be connected to the first and the last coils of the line reactor.The coil (connections) in the middle must be left unused.
Current will be drawn Make sure line reactor current handling capacity is the next size available or min 10% larger than the compressor FLA.
Incase a three phase line reactor to be chosen for single phase use, make sure the current rating of the line reactor selected is according to the FLA of the single phase compressor.
Impedance It is recommended to use 5%. Refer to Line Reactors Explained for further information about how to calculate the impedance (Z) .
